Melbourne Lord Mayor "Leadership" hopefuls, Gary Morgan and John Elliott, have staged a door stop calling for random drug tests on the Streets of Melbourne. I wonder if they would also support extending the enforcement proposals to subject City Councillors to random breath tests.
There is ongoing concern at the misuse and abuse of free booze provided to City Councillors by the Lords Major's hospitality bar.
All too often we see Councillors struggling to maintain a coherent argument or awareness. With Ratepayers paying the cost "Free boose on tap has become a real issue.
Our Civic leaders must set an example. Businesses and employers have a liability for the safety and well being of its employers and board members. The Council should not be providing free booze. its time to close the bar.
